What I have learnt in media
What I have learnt in media is primary research and the type of method which is first hand also secondary research which the method is magazines. Also different media sectors such as industries, form texts. There are three key stages of media production which is called pre production, post production and production. Another topic I have learnt is there are two types of target audience which are called primary and secondary. The defntion of primary is a younger audience such as teenagers or kids. Secondary is a older audience which is adults and elderly people.
The two words which define media sectors are tv and animation also I learnt that cross over genre appears in many different texts and forms. which could be horror book, horror photo, horror animation, horror film. An example of action cross over could be romance cross over or thriller cross over. Another topic I have learnt this year in media is intertextuality an example of this could be branding or having a picture of a movie on a wall. The definition of of a genre is non fiction, news nature documentaries. Also genres are not static but they are subject to renegotiation between the industry and the audience. Lastly the term genre can not be applied to the aspects of style. such as comedy. An example of genre could be genre us French type and genre has characteristic features refinished by the audience.
I learnt that representation is a key concept in media education. This is also concerned with the way people ideas and events are presented to us. Such as beliefs and value or attidues. Representation is also how media constructs meaning about the world. That could be shared recognition by audience of ideas values, situations contained in the text. An example of representation could be how men are represented in movies. Such as not needing to rely on the help of other people if they submit to being part of a family. Also tv drama, strength physical and intellectual, power, sexual attractiveness based on physique. Women are represented as being part of context like family, friends , colleagues, working as a team. emotional and beauty. Also size physique.
I have also learnt how some media texts are hybrid genres, which are the conventions of more than one genre. Also we studied about the purposes of music videos which were artists record label genre also indirect - lifestyle. and 1988 to 1999 of six major record labels known as a big six. Lastly warmer music group EML, Sony music, BMG, universal music group.
We have also found out about the most popular music genres which are adult contemporary, Brit-pop, dance pop, dream pop, Electro pop, pop/rock and soft rock lastly teen pop. bubble gum pop which is a music with an up beat sound and chamber pop which is a style of rock music characterised by emphasis.
The two final topics I have learnt this year in media was mine en scene which is what you see in a movie such a character facial expression, or the setting such as a dark background or bright colours. Also the props. Finally codes and conventions which is flash and dancing routiens and dancing inftont of a camera
