commercial Radio

The purpose of commercial radio focuses on gaining revenue. the ways in which commercial radio focus on profit making is through different factors such as seasonal awareness, selling newscasts and of course advertising. However audiences often use commercial radio when they are doing other things for example when people are at work they will often have the radio on in the background  or when people are driving to or from work they can still be listening to the radio in the car; thus radio in itself is seen as a background noise.

In this report I will be analysing two contrasting radio advertisements. The first radio advertisement I will be looking at is Think 'two things at once' it was produced by think and released 23 April 2007

message: The message of this advert is to keep people safe on the road which is typical of the company Think who are known for road safety. The reason why they have done this is to allow drivers to think twice about how they behave when they out on the road and to be aware of their safety and the people who are around them.

style: factual The style of this advert is factual which is because they are using real life statistics which relate to the advert  about road safety the words which is being mentioned in the advert is it hard to concentrate while driving and using your mobile phone which is a powerful message to warn people to beware of their safety and to also avoid accidents from happening.

structure: part of a series-released on tv as well as radio -campaign cross platform advertising-radio-primt-tv

The structure of this series is that think use the advert which is part of series the reason is because it would be seen as series because think use cross platform advertising

purpose:  The purpose of this advert is make sure that everybody knowns how important their safety is when they are outside on the road. Such as then driving a car keeping away from their mobile phone to prevent a accident from taking place. Also there is a law that you are not allowed to use your mobile phone while you are driving otherwise you would find yourself in a hard situation.

The use of sound bed that is featured as it is used non diegetic sound with 0.1 seconds from the start till the end of the video which is only hearing the voice of the person who is speaking which is the narrator.

The use of voiceover is multi voice because there is more than one voice being heard through out the whole video. Also there is a tagline being used because as the narrators continuously says one word which is think this could also be seen as informal due to the use of only one word being used. The use of tone is also very informal because the person who is speaking is a middle age women having a informal relationship with the target audience as they are explaining the dangers people are in while driving on the road.

The persuasive techniques is the way that the narrator is trying to prove their point to the audience by doing what they are saying to the audience.

The level of distribution is this video is national which means everybody has access to this video also there is nothing offensive for people to hear or see, regarding the asa and their regulation . The reason for this is because it is to help people think twice about their decision making. Also they have not provided any contact details because they have a very huge company, so the use of their slogan (think) will allow people to know exactly who they are and what they do which is working for road safety to keep people safe.
